The valley's cuisine captures the traditional flavors of its region - Marina Alta - while adding nuances and singularities that come from being in the mountains.
This is why traditional meats and sausages take center stage: lamb, wild boar stews, and the popular 'figatells,' which are served as tapas or in tasty sandwiches.
Also noteworthy are the fresh salads and locally grown vegetables. And don't miss out on the olives; a locally produced product of great quality.
The two star products in the valley are Olive Oil and Cherries; that's why you'll find many dishes made with cherries in La Vall: in rice dishes, salads, as accompaniments to meats, and, of course, in delicious sweets and pastries.
If you're planning to cook at your accommodation, we recommend visiting Casa Carmen in the village of Patró (also known as Alpatró).
It's a very cozy grocery store with an assortment of local and artisanal products derived from cherry cultivation, especially their well-known liqueur or the 'Cirereta' jam that they produce themselves.
Of course, you'll also find olive oil, cured meats, meats, honey, and other traditional products.
To go out, we can tell you that in general, you're going to eat very well in La Vall de Gallinera and at moderate prices.
Here we detail the characteristics of the bars and restaurants available to you in the valley.
